The last performance of tragic actor Heath Ledger has been described as "the finest of his career".
A press screening of the new Batman movie The Dark Knight had viewers cackling along with Ledger's Joker.
Critic David Germain said: "Jack Nicholson's Joker was camp and clever. Ledger's Joker is an all-out terror."
Ledger died in January at the age of 28 from an overdose of prescription drugs in Manhattan.
Insiders say Ledger could be in line for a best supporting actor Academy Award nomination.
The Joker masterminds abductions, assassination attempts,
murders and bombings, aimed at his enemy Batman, played by Christian Bale.The Dark Knight opens next month.
